Come to the Heart-to-Heart Market!
Six years ago the Step Up Orphan Opportunity Centre visited the “Heart-to-Heart Market”, a New Year charity fair, for the first time.
It was December, and students and teachers nervously awaited this day: we made postcards, felt brooches, bracelet decorations, Christmas tree decorations and lots of other interesting things that could make great New Year gifts. At the fair we made new friends in volunteers and partners who had heard about us for the first time and offered friendly assistance.
It went really well and we decided that we had to go back the next year – six years later we still haven’t broken this tradition and on 11th December at Gostiny Dvor you will find the Hands from There stand.
Thanks to the Heart-to Heart Market, the Step Up Centre began the HandsOn carpentry workshop, where students make beautiful wooden birdhouses, feeding troughs and Christmas tree decorations which you can buy as a unique present each year for yourself, your relatives, friends or colleagues.
Friends who have a country house will love a painted birdhouse or feeding trough. Assembling a set of them by hand will add variety to children’s Christmas holidays – such work is fascinating for all the family because, once you have put it together, you want to decorate it!
What’s more – we prepared sweet treats for the Heart-to-Heart Market: pumpkin, plum and pepper jams as well as various chutney sauces (apple and cranberry, for example). But our most bright and unusual gift? Salted oranges.
Come and join us at the Heart-to-Heart Market on 11th December, at Gostiny Dvor. Address: Ilinka Street, 4. Entrance 4.
